Course description
The goal of the basic study programme is to learn the basics of education and adult education. The student is introduced to the central issues, concepts, theories and research methods in several fields of education and adult education. The basic study programme is worth 25 ECTS credits. It consists of five 5- ECTS credit courses. One section is always completed as a written assignment. Studying is not tied to any place or time – there are no fixed schedules, and it is possible to complete all studies at home, for example. You can register as a student at any time and complete your courses in the order you consider best.

If you have a Finnish social security number, you can registrate through Korppi-data system:
Registration to The Basic Studies in Education and Adult Education
If you don't have a Finnish social security number, you can't use Korppi-system to registration. You can registrate as follows:
- Fill in the registration form.
- Write on the subject field of the e-mail: "Registration / <name of the subject>", for example "Registration / Basic Studies in Education and Adult Education" Return the registration form as attached file by e-mail to avoneuvo(at)avoin.jyu.fi or by mail to the address University of Jyväskylä, Open University, PL 35 (ToB), FI-40014 Jyväskylän yliopisto, Finland.
- You will receive a bill for the study fee after returning the registration form. The fee is invoiced as a total sum. By paying the study fee you confirm your registration. We will only accept study fees paid in euro currency.
- After the Open University has received both your registration form and your payment, you will receive more detailed instructions of how to study.
- Study fees already paid will not be refunded.
