Humanististen, kasvatustieteellisten, matemaattis-luonnontieteellisten ja yhteiskuntatieteellisten alojen opiskelijoille tarkoitettu, Jyväskylän yliopiston kandidaatin tutkintoihin vaadittava akateemisen tason englannin suullisen kielitaidon kurssi. Kurssille voi tulla myös ilman tutkintotavoitteita.
Students will enhance their oral communication skills in academic and professional situations relating to their own field and future profession. Students will become familiar with the conventions and cultural considerations associated with spoken production and interaction. In addition students will develop communication confidence and team working skills.

Learning outcomes
After completion of the course students should be able to:
- communicate orally, with confidence, in informal and formal situations within an academic and workplace context
- make a professional presentation that follows internationally accepted norms
- find and use electronic resources to facilitate and support the above
- recognize, understand and adjust to basic intercultural differences in communication
Students should have a command of English equivalent to several years study. If you can understand current affairs programmes in English, talk to native speakers and explain your views, then this is the course for you.
It is strongly suggested that participants should read at least one novel or other book in English just before starting the course, in order to familiarize themselves with the level of English required. All activities are done in English, leave your Finnish at home! (The teacher does not speak Finnish!)
